Pieter van der Merwe MBE is General Editor of Royal Museums Greenwich, having been on the staff of the National Maritime Museum since 1974. He has authored and edited a number of books on aspects of British maritime history. Jeremy Michell is Curator of Historic Photographs and Ships Plans, and is the lead curator for the new Polar Worlds gallery at the National Maritime Museum.
