Renowned as the legendary rude landlord of the "Coach and Horses" in London's Soho, Norman Balon has been immortalized in "Private Eye" and, most recently, as a menacing off-stage presence in Keith Waterhouse's play, "Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell". These are his memoirs - a personal view not only of his 50 years at the "Coach and Horses" where actors, painters, authors, drinkers and "Private Eye" writers have come and gone (some more peacefully than others), but also of a much-loved and much-changed Soho.
